Le projet devait s’appeler, comme un clin d’oeil:
 « Retour au bled. ». Nous devions traverser la Méditerranée ensemble. Vous qui faites ce trajet tous les étés, moi qui devait le faire pour la première fois.Nous étions en 2020.Nous sommes fin 2021, je n’ai toujours pas vu l’Algérie..Une chose folle s’est produite. Nous ne pouvions plus voyager. Nous avons été stoppés. Nous, dont les passeports&#38;nbsp;ouvrent si facilement les portes. Nous avons connu la&#38;nbsp;frustration d’être interdit.e.s de séjour. Les seuls autorisés à&#38;nbsp;traverser furent les corps des anciens. Ils avaient pris leurs&#38;nbsp;dispositions. Ils seraient enterrés dans le sol algérien, les&#38;nbsp;décrets n’empêchaient que les vivants de se déplacer. Les&#38;nbsp;cercueils ont fait la traversée..Année 2020, année 2021..Ces photographies sont les traces de ce temps suspendupendant lequel les frontières étaient fermées à toutes et tous. Ce temps a existé, on peut le regarder..Ce sont des images de là-bas extraites des téléphones portables.Ce sont des embrassades et de longues soirées à manger ensemble qui auraient du avoir lieu là bas.Ce sont les tenues traditionnelles que l’ont ne peut porter que là bas.Ce sont toutes ces histoires que vous m’avaient faites découvrir et que l’on a joué ensemble ici..À suivre.

	The mille-feuille is a puff pastry cake with a pastry cream and covered with an icing recognizable by its stripes. It is known by the same name in several languages.


The {{{Mille-feuilles}}} editorial object is multifaceted and multilingual, made by the students of the Higher School of Art and Design in Valence (ESAD-V) and the inhabitants. s and associations of Fontbarlettes.

For this issue 1 we have chosen to invite the artist-photographer-author Laura Ben Hayoun whose work deals with borders and intergenerational transmission.


	Le mille-feuille est un gâteau de pâte feuilletée avec une crème pâtissière et recouvert d’un glaçage reconnaissable par ses rayures. Il est connu sous ce même nom dans plusieurs langues.
L’objet éditorial {{{Mille-feuilles}}} est multiforme et multilingue, fabriqué par les étudiant•e•s de l’Ecole supérieure d’art et de design à Valence (ESAD-V) et les habitant•e•s et associations de Fontbarlettes.
Envisageons ensemble l’art comme un moyen de créer des relations au monde au travers de nos communautés et au-delà. .

« Cette exposition est la restitution d’un projet éducatif mené par la photographe Laura Ben Hayoun à l’invitation du Palais de Tokyo. Pendant un mois, elle a travaillé avec groupe de jeunes vivant dans le Val-de-Marne qui n’avaient jamais mis les pieds dans un musée ou un centre d’art. Malgré la gratuité pour les mineurs et les différentes politiques « d’inclusion », ces lieux restent producteurs d’une force excluante, le domaine réservé des dominants. Laura Ben Hayoun a non seulement invité ce groupe et leurs éducateurs à s’installer au Palais de Tokyo comme si ce palais était leur maison, à arpenter ses expositions et ses secrets fermés au public. Mais aussi à produire des images d’eux même en son sein, à s’y représenter comme pour mieux imposer leur présence. Après eux, ce sont maintenant leurs images qui habitent cette maison.»

“This exhibition is the restitution of an educational project led by photographer Laura Ben Hayoun at the invitation of the Palais de Tokyo. For a month, she worked with a group of young people living in Val-de-Marne who had never set foot in a museum or an art center. Despite free admission for minors and the various “inclusion” policies, these places continue to produce an excluding force, the reserved domain of the dominant.


Laura Ben Hayoun not only invited this group and their educators to settle in the Palais de Tokyo as if this palace were their home, to survey its exhibitions and its secrets closed to the public. Dans le cadre de son exposition personnelle au Centre du Patrimoine arménien et à la Médiathèque François Mitterrand, Laura Ben Hayoun organise un workshop avec les femmes de la Maison Pour Tous du quartier du Polygone. 
À partir de magazines, elle ont réfléchi à l’image de la femme dans les médias. Elles ont ensuite réalisé leur autoportrait sous forme de collage.&#38;nbsp; Puis elles ont travaillé la construction de leur autoportrait en studio et une performance au sein de l’espace d’exposition. &#38;nbsp;

As part of her personal exhibition at the Centre du Patrimoine Arménien and the François Mitterrand Media Library, Laura Ben Hayoun organized a workshop with the women of the Maison Pour Tous in the Polygone district.

From magazines, they reflected on the image of women in the medias. They then produced their self-portrait in the form of a collage. Fianlly they worked on the construction of their self-portrait in the studio and a performance in the exhibition space.

À travers l’utilisation de différentes techniques et appareils photographiques (cyanotypes, Polaroïd, numérique), les élèves ont joué à se représenter dans les paysages qui les accueillent et d’aller à la rencontre des habitants de la Vallée. L’exposition “Passage(s)” au sein du Musée de La Vallée met en lumière que si la montagne fait frontière elle n’est en rien infranchissable, elle a toujours vu des hommes et des femmes la traverser. Les élèves ont fait la médiation de certaines pièces selectionnées du musée et de leur exposition.

Through the use of different techniques and photographic devices (cyanotypes, Polaroid, digital), the students played to represent themselves in the landscapes that welcome them and discover the inhabitants of the Vallée . 
The “Passage(s)” exhibition at the Musée de La Vallée highlights that if the mountain is a border, it is by no means impassable, it has always seen men and women cross it.
The students them made the mediation of selected pieces of the museum and of their exhibition.

Le projet Teach me how to sew/saw &#38;nbsp;(Apprends moi à coudre/scier ) prend pied entre la France et l’Arménie. J’y suis les trames ambiguës tissées entre diaspora et Arménie indépendante. Une grande partie de la diaspora arménienne est arrivée en Europe à la suite du génocide de 1915. Venant de territoires aujourd’hui en Turquie nombre d’entre eux ne se reconnaissent pas dans l’Arménie actuelle.


&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; 


C’est à travers une histoire du textile et des motifs que j’entends questionner ces identités. Les symboles qui se répètent dans les tapis (boteh, grenade, mots en arménien) sont des hymnes à la fécondité et à la prospérité. J’ai eu très vite envie de les questionner avec d’autres jeunes femmes. 


Les tapis sont aussi des territoires et durant ce travail au long cours l’Arménie à connu des bouleversements énormes: une révolution en 2018 puis la guerre avec l’Azerbaïdjan. 


J’ai entamé en 2019 une traversée qui commence à l’usine de tricot où travaillaient mon grand père et mes grand-tantes arméniennes à Valence, France. 


Puis je suis partie en Arménie, loin des souvenirs familiaux, dans la capitale Yerevan à la rencontre de jeunes arméniennes militantes de la révolution de 2018.


J’y suis retournée en 2023 redécouvrant un pays mutilé d’une partie de son territoire suite à la guerre avec l’Azerbaidjan, guerre qui a impacté très violemment la jeunesse arménienne.

The Teach me how to sew/saw project takes place between France and Armenia. I follow the ambiguous threads woven between the diaspora and independent Armenia.&#38;nbsp;A large part of the Armenian diaspora arrived in Europe following the 1915 genocide. Coming from territories today in Turkey, many of them do not recognize themselves in present-day Armenia.&#38;nbsp;It is through a history of textiles and patterns that I intend to question these identities.&#38;nbsp;The symbols that are repeated in the carpets (boteh, pomegranate, words in Armenian) are hymns to fertility and prosperity.&#38;nbsp;I very quickly wanted to question them with other young women.&#38;nbsp;Carpets are also territories and during this long-term work, Armenia experienced enormous upheavals: a revolution in 2018 then the war with Azerbaijan.&#38;nbsp;In 2019, I began a journey that began at the knitting factory where my grandfather and my Armenian great-aunts worked in Valence, France.&#38;nbsp;Then I left for Armenia, far from family memories, to the capital Yerevan to meet young Armenian activists of the 2018 revolution.&#38;nbsp;I returned there in 2023, rediscovering a country that had mutilated part of its territory following the war with Azerbaijan, a war which had a very violent impact on Armenian youth.

An intercultural (family) history is at the center of Laura Ben Hayoun’s piece “Just one spark, and everything could explode.” The second-generation Algerian-French artist (b. 1984, FR) uses reenactment with her family and found footage to reflect on colonialism, racism, torture, and terrorism. Ben Hayoun has created a highly impressive investigative work, one prompted by personal ties even if not experienced first-hand, with a narrative assembled and brought to life using online images, archives, and film.

	FR"À la moindre étincelle, c’était l’explosion." Du côté de mon père on s’est toujours dit pied-noir. Dans cette famille française (d’origine) juive, parler de l’Algérie était impossible. &#38;nbsp;Ce serait parler de leur vie là-bas, leur départ en 1962&#38;nbsp;quand l’Algérie française est devenue l’Algérie. Mais ce serait aussi parler de colonialisme, racisme, torture, terrorisme, des mots dangereux que l’on préfère éviter.L’Algérie indépendante a plus de cinquante ans, pourtant.Pour reprendre pied dans cette Histoire qui m’habite j’ai entamé une discussion silencieuse avec ma famille, par l’image et le jeu de la mise en scène.Est-il possible de faire des images des silences ? Qu’est-ce que le silence transmet comme images ? Je ne suis pas allée en Algérie. J’ai recréé un territoire à travers les images que j’ai pu trouver sur Internet, dans les archives, les films. Nous les avons rejouées. C’est un combat visuel entre père et filles.Je raconte cette histoire à Valence, France avec mon père, né français à Oran, Algérie en 1956, et ma soeur, née à Valence en 1985, descendante comme moi de&#38;nbsp;cette mémoire jamais transmise.

« À la palme et à l’empan» , ce sont deux termes d’architecture médiévale, du temps où le corps&#38;nbsp;était unité de mesure.Dans ce travail, j’ai cherché par tous les moyens à donner une image d’une situation complexe, et d’un temps suspendu. Dans un lieu reculé dans les Alpes, des jeunes attendent de pouvoir poursuivre leurs projets de vie. Iels tous ici sans leurs familles.Partant du film de Peter Brook « Sa majesté des mouches&#38;nbsp;» dans lequel des enfants survivent eux aussi à une catastrophe et se retrouve dans un lieu inconnu, nous avons construit une cabane dans les arbres: une chorégraphie avec la caméra, une scène sur laquelle jouer des personnages, chanter. La photographie crée cet espace de mise en scène.

« À la palme et à l’empan» ,are two terms from medieval architecture, from the time when the body was a unit of measurement.In this work, I tried by all means to give an image of a complex situation, and of a suspended time.In a remote home in the Alps, young people are waiting to be able to pursue their life projects. They are all here without their families.Starting from Peter Brook's film "His Majesty of the Flies" in which children also survive a disaster, I worked on their request on how to write their stories while preserving their anonymity. How to show while hiding? We built a tree house: a choreography with the camera, a stage on which characters play, sing. Photography creates this staging place.

	DELIVER

J’ai suivi les livreurs à domicile, je les ai photographié avec un Smartphone. Nous avions les mêmes outils de travail  – à savoir un vélo et un téléphone - mais nous en faisions une utilisation différente.
Leurs gestes et leur uniforme témoignent à leur manière d’une forme de taylorisme contemporain. La répétition est accompagnée par les flux mouvementés des nouvelles technologies, où la précarité de l’emploi prend des faux airs de liberté.

“Laura Ben Hayoun’s work reflects the changes of the employment landscape over the years. In Deliver, her unique images highlight the precariousness of employment which often falsely takes the appearance of freedom.In this series Ben Hayoun used her smartphone to picture ‘riders’ on their nightly journeys. The gestures and uniforms of the riders, in their own unique way, are an example of contemporary Taylorism, a situation where every single minute counts. At the same time, these repeated journeys are accompanied by the bustling flows of new technologies.”

Emmaus, une maison

 J’ai réalisé ce travail au Centre EMMAUS Louvel Tessier qui accueille des personnes ayant vécu dans la rue une période plus ou moins longue. Je me suis intéressée au sens du mot maison. Cette «maison» est aussi une colocation avec ses règles et ses travailleurs sociaux. J’ai demandé aux pensionnaires de jouer pour moi les premières choses qu’ils ont faites en arrivant dans ce lieu très encadré, un entre-deux, officiellement un premier pas vers un relogement.

Emmaus, a home

I begun working with the EMMAUS Louvel Tessier Shelter which welcomes people who have lived in the street for a shorter or longer period, I became interested in the meaning of the word house. This "house" is also a shared apartment with its rules and social workers. I asked the residents to play for me the first things they did when they arrived in this place, an in-between, officially a first step towards rehousing.
